About Me, and the Story of Pam's Pet Care

Pam with their cats, in Edgewater Chicago

I live in Edgewater Glen with two wonderful senior cats, Scooter and Max (pictured with me here). In my free time I enjoy running, biking, baking, reading, and participating in activism on various fronts.

After earning a degree in the health sciences back in my home state of New Hampshire, I moved out to Chicago for continued education in that field. Thereafter, my career path unexpectedly changed upon working for a large dog walking and pet sitting company, volunteering at an animal shelter, and adopting my first cat.

A lifetime animal lover, with a newfound deeper understanding of their needs and knowledge of the pet sitting industry, I decided that instead of pursuing a career in research, I would start my own pet sitting and dog walking business. I wanted to provide my neighbors in the then-underserved far northside with an alternative to the larger companies, so they would not have to worry about who was coming into their home and taking care of their beloved pets or if they were receiving the quality of care they were paying for. Pam's Pet Care, Inc, was born in September 2006 and has been my labor of love since.
